AUSTIN – Bland and Blue Ridge competed April 29-30 in the Class 2A tournament.

At the Roy Fizer Golf Course, Bland’s Lady Tigers finished in sixth place with a total score of 810.

In the top three were Memphis (score of 670 over 36 holes), Wellington (703) and San Saba (745).

Lady Tiger CJ Wendland led the way in 20th place with a two-day score of 186.

She fired an 88 in the opening round and put up a 98 in the final 18 holes.

Also seeing action were Ashleigh Evans (29th at 199), Sharon Cuellar (34th at 209) and Morgen Gann (39th at 217).

Bland made it to state after capturing the 2A Region II title at Ferris’ Old Brickyard Golf Course.

They scored a 779 over 36 holes.

Evans led the team with a first round 85 and 83 in the second for a total of 168.

Rounding things out were Wedland (177), Gann (217) and Cuellar (237).

Prior to regionals, the Lady Tigers captured the District 12-3A title with a total score of 445.

Wendland and Evans brought home first and second among medalists with scores of 86 and 100 over 18 holes.

Gann had a 127, Kaitlyn Cook finished with a 132 and Cuellar carded a 138.

On the boys side at Austin, Blue Ridge’s Ty McKinney finished in 17th place with a 36 hole total of 163.

In his four straight showing at state, the senior ended up two shots back of a spot in the Top 15.

In the top three were Normangee’s Logan Young (total of 138), Olney’s Tanner Thompson (141) and Martin Mills’ July Latimer (143).

The week prior, McKinney finished as a medalist in fourth with a two-day total of 152 in the 2A Region II tournament at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris.

He ended up seven shots behind the third place finisher, with Martin Mills’ Latimer carding a 139 for first.

Blue Ridge took sixth as a team with a score of 148.

Also competing were Brevin Wiggins (194), Ty Agan (201), Clayton Patton (211) and Konner Walker (212).
