COLLEGE STATION – Blue Ridge’s Ty Agan made the most of his trip to the Class 2A tournament.

At Texas A&M, he finished in second place in his third straight appearance in as many tries.

The junior fell 6-1, 6-0, against Dillon Humpal of Corpus Christi London in the finale.

Agan advanced to the title match after a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Cason Dudney of Mason in the semifinals at A&M, before bad weather hit for the second straight day and postponed the finale.

After losing his initial match in his first two state tournament appearances, he opened play this time around with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Christoval’s Tyler Doering in the quarterfinals at A&M.

He made it to the Mitchell Tennis Center and Omar Smith Instructional Tennis Courts on the A&M campus, after taking first in the 2A Region II tourney.

The tournament was held at “The Courts” at Gabe Nesbit Park.

In other sports this season, Agan went to regionals with the golf team for the second year in a row and competed in track regionals in the long and high jumps.

Also competing at state was Bland’s girls doubles team of Claire Massey and Julia Sourber.

The duo fell 6-1, 6-2 to Miles’ Clay Dudson-Victoria Gomez in the opening match.

Taking first was Ryli Ruffin-Monaco Schmidt from Mason with a 6-1, 6-0 win over fellow teammates Kody Criswell-Justyn Tedder.

Prior to that the Bland team won second in the 2A Region II tournament at McKinney.
