The city of Farmersville receives a sales tax reimbursement check from the Texas State Comptroller this month for $79,936, a 14.8 percent increase from a year ago.
Reimbursements to Texas cities were distributed by the comptroller this month for taxes collected on retail sales made in March.
In May 2014, the check to Farmersville was $69,626.
For the first quarter of this year, the city has been reimbursed $356,194, a 5.54 percent increase from the $337,495 received for the same period in 2014.
Statewide, the comptroller distributed sales tax proceeds to cities totaling $498 million this month, up 5.61 percent from the May 2014 total of $472 million.
So far this year, cities in Texas have received $2.2 billion in sales tax proceeds compared to $2.1 billion in 2014, an increase of 6.23 percent.
Cities in Collin county are reimbursed a total of $25.44 million this month, up 9.26 percent from the $23.29 million received from the comptroller a year ago.
