Leona Mae (Tommie) Griffin

Mrs. Leona Mae (Tommie) Griffin of Sherman, formerly a resi- dent of Farmersville, passed away July 7, 2015, in Sherman. She was born July 9, 1921, in McKinney, the daughter of Charles A. and Rosa E. Parvin Hayes. She worked for Varo in Garland, was a seamstress for Henson’s of Greenville, and was a homemaker for more than 75 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmersville. She married C. H. Griffin on December 23, 1939, in Pike.

She is survived by her husband, C. H. Griffin of Sherman; sister, Johnie Fae Owens and her husband, James of Whitewright; nephew, Charles V. Owens and his wife, Beverly of Tom Bean; and nieces, Diana Poplin and her husband, Johnny; and Sharon Coleman and her husband, Gary, all of Farmersville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles L. Hayes; and sister, Ruby D. Hayes of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville. The Rev. John Foster officiated. Interment followed at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farm- ersville. Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Farmersville.
