Patriotic revelry will be celebrated from the air as both a Vietnam Huey helicopter and airplanes from the Commemorative Air Force will be helping in this year’s Audie Murphy Day.
The Ghostship Huey 197 helicopter will be flying over low, just above the tops of buildings, along with three planes that will stay at about 1,000 feet, preceding the parade at around 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18.
The helicopter is one of 25 privately owned military helicopters in the U.S. and is owned by Bobby Hawk of Argyle. Sheriff-elect Jim Skinner of Melissa is its crew chief.
