The city of Farmersville has started its budget work and a tax rate decrease is in the works.
Preliminarily, the city is discussing dropping the tax rate from 78 cents per $100 valuation to 75 cents per $100 valuation, a 3-cent decrease. Within this tax rate, 34 cents is designated for debt services and 38 cents is reserved for maintenance and operations.
The effective rate for the city is 73 cents per $100 valuation and the rollback rate is $.758173 per $100 valuation.
