Throughout the years many individuals have been inducted into the Farmersville Ex-Students Hall of Fame on Old Time Saturday.
Perhaps none is as well-known as this year’s recipient, who much like Cher, only goes by one name. Rassie.
Rassie Barker was inducted into the association at a ceremony Saturday, Oct. 6, though he could not physically attend due to health problems.
His son, Ronnie Barker, was on hand to accept the award for his dad and share a little bit about his own father.
“Every year we gather here at this time to celebrate a former student of Farmersville High School—some have achieved global recognition and others truly have been incredible difference makers in all walks of life in places here and abroad. It truly is a celebration of how the origin of an individual can have a definitive impact on not only that individual’s life but countless others. Great statesmen perhaps have for years cited their thoughts and feelings about service to others,” Barker said. “This year’s recipient of the Farmersville Ex-Students Association’s Hall of Fame Award goes to a man who has worn many hats throughout his life.”
