In a flurry of flashing lights the majority of the Farmersville Volunteer Fire Department left their Christmas banquet to answer the call of a structure fire.

Paged around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, the department paused its award banquet and answered the call for a fully engulfed home located on CR 655, also known as Murchison Street.

Personnel from Princeton FD, who was already in town covering the department’s station for the banquet, and Josephine Fire-Rescue also aided in the fire.

Departments were able to get a quick stop on the fire, though the home suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.
