There are 771 high school football head coaches in the state of Texas.

Farmersville native Frank Sandoval is one of those for the Mexia Black Cats.

He was recognized as one of the 40 best young football coaches under the age of 40 in the Lone Star State, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine.

“I know that my name is on the award, but it wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the superintendent, school board, coaches and the kids,” Sandoval said.
