Farmersville captures Region 6 Div. 2 championship
Farmersville emerged as the top boys powerlifting team following the Region 6 Div. 2 meet.
The competition was held March 12 at Kennedale High School.
state meet was originally scheduled for March 27 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.
Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic it will be made up at a later date.
During the region meet the Farmers placed first with 38 points 17 teams that earned points.
Gainesville was third with 27 and one point back with 26 was Kennedale.
Farmersville lifters making the cut for state were Jerry Cortez, Colby Stinedurf, Ethan Cortez and Gabe Sandoval.
Jerry Cortez placed first in the 132-pound weight class with a total of 995 pounds.
Stinedurf was first in 165 with 1,460.
Ethan Cortez claimed first in 181 with 1,355.
Batson finished first in 242 with 1,580.
Sandoval ended up second in super heavyweight with 1,445.
Others competing were Schon Nichols (fourth in 123 with 920), Jacob Tull (ninth in 148 with 1,045), Kam Cottle (bombed out in 165), Rhett Attaway (third in 181 with 1,325) and Elijah Ellis (bombed out in super heavyweight).
