The coronavirus pandemic has claimed another public event in Farmersville with the cancellation of the annual Scare on the Square celebration to commemorate Halloween.
In a unanimous vote, city council decided at the Sept. 22 meeting to forgo the event despite a recommendation from Main Street Manager Kevin Casey to proceed with a scaled back version of the celebration.
The annual trick or treat affair had been set for Oct. 24 with Casey recommending that children seek candy and other treats from merchants along the square without the usual array of games and food vendors.
