Coming out of tough games to Ford and Caddo Mills, Farmersville football proved to have fight in them as they defeated the Wills Point Tigers 48-21 at Farmers Stadium
Thoughts from Coach Brandon Hankins:
“It was great,” Hankins said. “The kids played hard. I thought we played hard from the first time we kicked it off until the last snap. We had too many mistakes, it was ugly, but we had about 600 yards of total offense, because we moved the ball well all night.”
Key Play of the Game: Farmersville stops Wills Point on fourth down.
Leading by six with less than two minutes left in the first half, Farmersville’s defense produced a huge fourth down stop, holding the Tigers one-yard shy of the first down. Giving their offense the ball deep in Wills Point territory, the Farmers were able to score two plays later, building upon their lead by half.
Impact Stat of Night: Wills Point 0-for-3 on extra point attempts
Throughout the night, Wills Point was held back by their inability to make their extra point attempts, missing all three. This is what allowed Farmersville to retake the lead so early, capitalizing on mistakes like these form the Tigers.
Top Farmer of the Night: Cooper Strawn
With EJ Chairez hurt for most of the second half, it was Cooper Strawn’s job to lead the offense in his absence. Strawn did an amazing job, helping lead the Farmers for multiple scoring opportunities in the half, including a 29-yard run of his own in the fourth quarter.
