Playing on a cold Wednesday night, Farmersville football were unable to gain significant yards on offense they lost to the Community Braves 42-16 at Braves Field in Nevada.
Key Play of the Game: Community blocks a Farmersville punt
Midway through the second quarter, Community already stood ahead of Farmersville 14-3. That lead expanded after a host of Braves were able to block the Farmersville punt, giving them good field position at the Farmers’ 13-yard line. This play was the difference maker in a competitive game between rivals.
Top Farmer of the Night: Cooper Strawn
For as little of success as Farmersville had on offense, Cooper Strawn had a good game for the Farmers. Strawn led the team in both rushing and receiving yards, recording 84 yards on the ground and 14 yards through the air. He scored one of Farmersville’s only touchdowns on the night, a 24 yard rushing touchdown as time expired.
Impact Stat: 8 penalties for 78 penalty yards
In a physical rivalry game, a huge factor in Farmersville’s loss to Community was their inability to limit their mistakes, as they accrued eight penalties for 78 yards in the game. This included a fight at the end of the first half that resulted in players from both sides getting ejected.
