Cleanup day scheduled for June 26

by | Jun 3, 2021 | Latest

The city of Farmersville is leading the charge to get the city spruced up by hosting its annual citywide clean up day on Saturday, June 26. The summer cleaning event will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Citizens of the community will need a photo I.D. to show proof of residency. Those interested in participating in the city cleaning event for their homes are required to live within the city limits.

Citizens can bring their bulky items such as brush, limbs and old furniture to the city’s maintenance yard located at 302 S. Johnson Street.

Those interested in disposing of household hazardous waste (HHW), such as old paint or oil, are encouraged to stop by city hall and pick up a HHW bag. This bag can be filled with containers of the chemicals and then disposed of through Community Waste Disposal at the citizens’ homes. HHW kits, with instructions, will also be available during the clean up event at the maintenance yard.

Items that will not be accepted include dead animals, propane tanks and 55 gallon barrels.

Refrigerators and freezers will not be accepted unless they have the CFC removed and have a special tag.

Those needing help with items can arrange assistance with the police department by calling 972-782-6141.
