Paula Wilfong heads into her second year as Farmersville’s team tennis coach with a lot more knowledge under her belt.
Wilfong said she’s excited for the opportunity to grow the program and is optimistic about building a good tennis team.
“We’re really grateful,” Wilfong said. “I think that our new administration didn’t really understand the value of team tennis. Now that we are here, I think they’re realizing there’s quite a few kids interested and are actually really good at tennis.”
The tennis coach said the team is preparing to get better and they have a lot of kids who are interested in tennis.
“I think it’s going to be exciting to watch them develop and close the gap,” she said.
Last season, Wilfong admitted she knew very little about the sport. She was assigned the role alongside her softball duties, the coach said her tennis knowledge has grown considerably in the last 12 months. This better acclamation with the sport gives her a better opportunity to lead the Farmers.
