The Farmersville football team proved why the grass is greener in 2021, getting revenge from last year by defeating Rains 49-36 at home.
Thoughts from Coach Randy Barnes
“This was a big one for us,” Barnes said. “Going from a 70-20 loss to a win is big. On top of that, because of how our schedule is constructed, we’ve got a good shot of going 4-1 in the preseason. I was really pleased that our kids learned how to win tonight. They had to come back tonight and find some adversity, and we did. It was beautiful.”
Impact Play: Brady Tidwell rushes it 94-yards for go-ahead TD
Farmersville trailed Rains by two-points with nine minutes remaining in the game. Pinned deep in their own territory at the six-yard line, the Farmers needed a strong drive in order to keep pace with the Wildcats. They found that on one play, as senior Tidwell ran all across the field to score what turned out to be the game winning touchdown.
Key Farmer of the Game: E.J. Chairez
Alongside Tidwell, Chairez became a big contributor to the Farmers offensive unit. Chairez finished with five total touchdowns and 314 total yards. Chairez’s best work came under center, going 13-for-22 for 233 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Farmersville returns home for their next game Friday, Sept. 3, hosting A+ Academy.
