Farmersville loses to Van Alstyne

by | Sep 25, 2021 | Latest, Sports

The Farmersville football team could not keep going offensively in the second and third quarters, as they lost their final pre-district game against Van Alstyne 40-18.

Key Play of the Game: Gavin Montgomery completes a 70-yard touchdown pass.

In the middle of the second quarter, the Farmers were trailing the Panthers 14-6 with the ball at Van Alstyne’s side of the field. After failing a fourth-down conversion, Farmersville returned on defense looking to earn a second consecutive stop. The Panthers capitalized on their possession, as Montgomery found Dakota Howard on two straight passes, including a 70-yard touchdown pass. This score was part of a 19-0 scoring run for Van Alstyne that turned a close contest into a dominant win for the Panthers.

After five games, the Farmers (2-3) enter their bye week. Farmersville travels to Quinlan Ford for the first district game Friday, Oct. 8.
