Aubrey Varner closed her cross-country season on Monday, running in the regional meet at Grand Prairie.
Varner finished 66th out of 163 runners, running a season best 13:30.
“Aubrey had as good a rookie season as a coach could ask,” girls cross country coach Chris Chase said. “She constantly pushed herself to improve, and it paid off. Achieving a personal best time in the biggest meet of the season is a testament to Aubrey’s competitive fire.”
She was the only Lady Farmer to qualify for the regional tournament after finishing ninth in the district meet (14:15.13).
Celina won the girls regional meet (41), followed by Sanger (73) and Kaufman (110). Melissa’s Abigail Bass won the individual race (10:45.38). Celina had the next two finishers, as Adele Clarke (11:01.91) and Alexis Frick (11:25.38) ended up second and third, respectively.
