Farmers defeat Gunter

The Farmersville boys basketball team used a solid start to the third quarter to win their first game of the season 68-53 over Gunter Friday night. 

The Farmers (1-2) started hot, scoring the game’s first seven points and leading by four at the end of the first. Both teams traded leads in the second quarter, with Farmersville holding a 33-29 advantage.

Farmersville returned in the second half strong, using a 15-2 scoring run to build a 17-point lead.

Gunter started to come back in the fourth quarter, cutting it to within six. The Farmers finished them off with a 12-3 run to win.

Four Farmers finished with double-digit points, with seven total players scoring. Dylan Shankle had a team-high 22 points, while Tre Brewer had 16.
