Farmersville fell victim to Mother Nature’s wrath this past week as winter cold, ice, snow and sleet played havoc with the city’s electrical system, officials reported.
The city suffered what Public Works Director Jeramy Young called a “systemwide power failure,” affecting approximately 1,700 utility customers.
Young, along with City Manager Ben White and Police Chief/Emergency Services Coordinator Mike Sullivan sought to respond to the myriad power outages reported throughout the city as ice-laden tree branches fell on power lines, cutting electricity to hundreds of homes and businesses throughout the city.
