Commissioner talks growth, redistricting

Collin County is in serious growth mode, according to Precinct 3 County Commissioner Darrel Hale, and that growth is posing a serious threat to the county’s ability to welcome new residents who want to move to the burgeoning North Texas county.

The county’s population now exceeds 1.1 million residents, which is up 36,313 people counted in 2021, Hale told the Rotary Club of Farmersville at its April 5 meeting. The county grew 36.1% from the 2010 Census, Hale said, making it the second-fasted growing county in the nation, behind only Maricopa County, Ariz., where Phoenix is located.
