Farmersville 3 keys to defeating Pilot Point

by | Sep 8, 2022 | Latest, Sports

Farmersville has one win under their belt and now faces a tough test to secure their second.

The Farmers (1-1) play host to Pilot Point (1-1) in week two. The Bearcats are coming off a 27-0 loss to Plainview in Oklahoma last week but have proven in the past to be one of the most explosive offenses in the area. It’ll be a challenge to secure a victory in week three, but the Farmers have shown their own ability to score some points this season.

Here are the three keys to Farmersville defeating Pilot Point at home on Sept. 9.

1. Contain the passing game

Pilot Point threw for 200 yards in their week one victory over Callisburg. Asten Kirby accounted for 146 receiving yards from quarterback Wyatt Smith and scored once in the game.

In week two, the Bearcats had six yards passing with Smith out and their backup quarterback in the game. They were shut out in that contest as well.

For Farmersville to win, the roadmap is limiting the success of that passing attack. While it remains to be seen if Smith will be available for Pilot Point, the Farmers’ secondary should do whatever it takes to prevent big plays in the passing game, especially to Kirby on the outside.
