Local veterans honored by district

by | Nov 17, 2022 | Area news, Education, Latest

Veteran’s Day was celebrated at several Farmersville ISD campuses on Friday, Nov. 11.

The festivities started with a flag raising ceremony at Tatum Elementary, where veterans were given thank-you cards and invited to join the student body in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Boy Scout Troop 310 posted the colors and recognized veterans for their service.

Following the recognition at Tatum Elementary, many veterans, along with others, enjoyed breakfast followed by a program at Farmersville High School.

Approximately fifty veterans, with their family members, were in attendance.

Farmersville High School Student Council and Farmersville Junior High School National Junior Honor Society students served breakfast, prepared by FISD cafeteria staff, to veterans in the cafeteria.

FHS Principal David Warren opened the ceremony by welcoming veterans and guests, as well as giving a brief history of Veteran’s Day.
