Fire claims woman’s life

by | Dec 8, 2022 | Area news, Latest

Two separate fires, one resulting in a fatality and the second involving hazardous materials, gave the Farmersville Fire Department a challenging start to the month of December.

A late morning fire at a home on CR 558 on Sunday, Dec. 4, claimed the life of a woman.

Farmersville FD was the primary responder with Princeton, Nevada and Josephine providing mutual aid.

Fire investigator Joe Wetzel with Wylie Fire-Rescue handled the inspection of the scene and said initially the cause appeared to be improperly discarded smoking materials, resulting in an accidental fire.

The woman’s age is estimated between 60 and 70 years old and her name had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon, pending confirmation of notification of next of kin.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, an early morning fire involved not only the Farmersville Fire Department, but mutual aid from several other communities as well.
