City hires Economic Development Director

by | Jan 26, 2023 | Area news, Latest

The city of Farmersville has stepped up its commercial game plan with the addition of its first economic development director.

Larry Tucker, the newly hired director, brings over 25 years of experience in the economic development field to the position.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve as the Executive Director for the Farmersville Economic Development Corporation (FEDC),” Tucker said.

Tucker’s first day working for the city was Tuesday, Jan. 17. His position was added to the growing city of Farmersville to bring new opportunities and jobs. The total compensation package for his position is budgeted at $83,402.

Tucker has lived in Texas since moving here with his wife, Libbey, who was hired to assist with economic development for the city of Rowlett in 2020.

Prior to moving to Texas, Tucker was employed as the director of economic development in Bullitt County Kentucky from 2020-2021.

This is not the first time Tucker has been charged to bring development to a city or county. He served as the first full-time director of economic development for Lincoln County, Mo. for six years until 2019. According to Tucker’s resume, while in Missouri, he “fostered the implementation of creative workforce development initiatives including a technical training initiative with Rankin Technical College.”
