With first place and a potential district championship on the line, the Farmersville softball team came up clutch Thursday night.
Hosting No. 2 Community, the Lady Farmers shut out the Lady Braves 6-0, regaining a tie in the district championship race. The win avenged Farmersville’s earlier 3-2 loss to Community on March 17 and handed the Lady Braves just their fourth loss all season.
Farmersville had six different runners score in the game, including RBI hits from Bella Holland and Cecily Sandoval. Jamie Varga earned the win in the circle, allowing just four hits and striking out seven. The defense was terrific for Farmersville in the win, committing just one error over seven innings and got out of key innings unscathed.
With the victory, Farmersville and Community are now both 7-1 in district play with just two games remaining. If both teams win the remainder of their games, they’ll clinch a share of the district championship this season. Farmersville travels to Caddo Mills next Tuesday, April 11, in their next game.
