Farmersville scored five runs over the first three innings, completing the perfect season in District 13-4A.
Taking on Sunnyvale in the second game of their two-game series, the Farmers won 5-2 after some timely hits in the opening innings, and a strong start from Collin Berry. He struck out five batters over the five innings and didn’t allow a single run. Mason Erwin closed out the game over the final two innings.
With the win, Farmersville improved to 23-3 on the year and a perfect 10-0 in district play. They now prepare for the postseason, where they’ll either play Wills Point or Mabank in the bi-district round, depending on results from the final week of the season. The Farmers had already clinched the district championship earlier in the year.
Up next, Farmersville has a two-game non-district series against Aubrey for this week, tuning the team up for playoffs. They’ll travel to Aubrey next Friday, April 28, in their final game of the regular season.
