Farmersville forced a game three in the regional quarterfinals, defeating No. 7 Canton 3-1 Friday night.
The Lady Farmers were aggressive from the start, with Baylee Valliant scoring after hitting a first-inning double to give the team the early lead. The Eaglettes quickly tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, but Farmersville took the lead for good in the third on a stolen base by Jamie Varga, followed by Valliant scoring her second run on a Canton error on contact by Destiney Madewell.
In the circle, Kaylie Casados pitched six innings, allowing no earned runs and walking only three batters. Farmersville was outhit 8-4 in the game but managed to stay alive by being aggressive on the basepath.
Farmersville’s final game against Canton will be Saturday morning at North Forney High School, with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. The winner advances to face the winner of Godley and Van Alstyne in the regional semifinals.
