LUCAS – Farmersville’s softball season came to an end Friday night, losing to Van Alstyne in game two 7-3.
The Lady Panthers scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take the initial lead and added three more runs in the third to add insurance runs. While only outhit 11-9, Farmersville struggled defensively in a game with seven total errors from both teams. Kaylie Casados took to the circle in the third, throwing five innings and striking out five batters, allowing just one unearned run in the game.
Casados also drove in the opening run for the Lady Farmers in the game, driving in Destiney Madewell in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Farmersville scored additional runs in the fifth and the seventh, with Jamie Varga rounding the bases on a Van Alstyne defensive error in the fifth. In the seventh, Bella Holland, who had three hits in the game, drove in Baylee Valliant on an RBI single in the seventh.
Farmersville finished the game with 25 wins for the year, winning the district championship once again as well. Van Alstyne advances to face Aubrey in the regional finals.
