Farmersville City Council members received a history lesson regarding the Welford Primary School located at Highway 380 and South Hamilton Street at the Tuesday, Oct. 24 regular meeting.
Representatives were present that attended the school which was built in the early 1900s and closed in the mid-1960s.
The issue before council involves what to do with the structure once road improvements are made near its current location.
According to City Manager Ben White, the building can be left on the current site but would need to be moved to accommodate a new road.
A steering committee has been formed consisting of community members (especially with ties to the school), city leaders and economic development committee members.
