MESQUITE – The Farmersville baseball team hit the ground running last week. After a several weeks of scrimmages, the Farmers took part in their first invitational of the season in Mesquite’s Skeeter/Stallion Tournament.
There, the guys took two of their four contests, with wins over Grand Prairie and Mesquite. They opened the event with a 2-1 loss to Corsicana last Thursday but proceeded to tally eight runs in each of their two victories on Friday.
That paired them in a rematch with Corsicana on Saturday, where they lost 4-1. Overall, it was a strong start to the year, helping Coach Jon Nordin continue to get a good look at his team heading into the season.
