Pitching, defense and timely hitting. That’s what the Farmersville baseball team did this past week in their bi-district matchup against Canton, winning the series, 2-1, advancing to the area round.
In what was a strong opening effort to postseason, the Farmers displayed all the traits of a team looking to make a deep run through the playoffs.
Farmersville played an extremely well-rounded contest in game one of the series on Thursday, May 2. The Farmers mercy-ruled Canton 14-0, thanks in part to the 11 runs that they scored in the fourth inning.
Those 11 runs came after taking an early lead just one inning prior. Then, the onslaught began and there was no looking back.
