FARMERSVILLE — Farmersville sophomore Amare Warren caught the go-ahead, 88-yard touchdown pass with 8:23 left in Friday’s non-district home game against Wills Point and later sealed a 24-20 win for his team after catching a pass along the sideline on a third-and-7 play with two minutes remaining.

Wills Point overcame a 14-3 deficit to take a 20-17 lead with a 2-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jett Fletcher to senior wide receiver Cooper O’Neal with 9:36 left in the fourth quarter.

Warren’s touchdown reception from sophomore quarterback Levi McAbee a few plays later to put Farmersville back on top for good, and the Farmers came up with a fourth-down stop on Wills Point’s next possession to force a turnover on downs.

Warren caught three passes for 133 yards. McAbee completed 9 of 17 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Gordon Swartz finished with 77 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Farmersville (3-1) begins District 5-4A Div. II play Friday, Sept. 27 at Gainesville.
