The ongoing discussion of annexation and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) remained a focal point during the Farmersville City Council’s Monday, Oct. 7 meeting at City Hall, where voluntary annexations sparked both approval and criticism.
Council unanimously passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Craig Overstreet to execute a voluntary petition for the annexation of approximately 89.2 acres, commonly referred to as the Chaparral Rails to Trails or Chaparral Trail. A public hearing, required by law and announced through public notice, is scheduled for the council’s Oct. 21 meeting to gather public input on the annexation.
