Fire Marshal office seeks police authority

by | Apr 24, 2025 | Latest

Farmersville Fire Chief Greg Massey and Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Matt Jones discussed the status of the fire marshal position and proposed changes at the Monday, April 21, City Council meeting.

Both outlined the benefits of obtaining law enforcement status for the city’s fire marshal office, which would include Massey, Jones and Penny Phillips upon completion of training. The change would allow members of the department to conduct arson investigations independently, reducing reliance on police resources.
