CANTON – Farmersville swept Pittsburg in the bi-district round, capitalizing on Pirate mistakes — including a walk-off hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded — to advance to a best-of-three area-round series against Longview Spring Hill.

But Spring Hill presented a much tougher challenge.

Senior Grant Burton allowed just two hits — including only one over the final five innings — and struck out nine in a dominant 14-0 win in Game 1 last Thursday at Canton High School. In Game 2, senior Landon Bartell struck out eight while giving up just three hits and no runs over five shutout innings in an 11-0 victory last Friday, completing the sweep of Farmersville.
