Six players from the Farmersville softball team were recognized on the All-District 13-4A softball team, as voted on by the district’s coaches.

Senior shortstop Bella Holland was named the co-offensive player of the year, an honor that she shared with Community freshman Lyla Whitt.

Holland, a West Texas A&M signee, was a vocal leader and she backed it up with her play on the field. During her final season donning a Lady Farmers’ uniform, she finished with a .434 batting average, a team-high 33 hits, 16 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 15 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

Holland caught fire during district play, going 19 of 36 for a .528 batting average, with three RBIs and 11 runs scored.

The future West Texas A&M Lady Buff was also a force defensively, finishing with an .899 fielding percentage and turned four double plays.

Sophomore left fielder Breelynn Pollard earned a nod on the first team.

Pollard followed up a standout freshman year for the Lady Farmers with a consistent sophomore season.

Pollard set the table at the top of the Farmersville batting order, hitting .342 with 25 hits, six RBIs, 20 runs scored and 12 walks.

Junior catcher Jacey Wheaton and infielder/pitcher Kaylie Casados both landed on the second team.

Wheaton excelled defensively behind the plate, and offensively, came up with clutch hits while serving as the clean-up batter in the No. 4 spot in Farmersville’s batting order. She finished with a team-best .439 batting average, was second on team in hits with 29, recorded six doubles and three triples, hit one home run, drove in a team-high 23 runs, scored 21 runs and had nine stolen bases.

Casados, meanwhile, hit .333 with 23 hits, including three doubles and two triples, 19 RBIs, 12 runs scored and drew six walks. At pitcher, she accounted for 63 of Farmersville’s 99 strikeouts and surrendered 31 earned runs in 70 innings.

Senior third baseman Alyssa Smith and senior first baseman Victoria Reyes garnered honorable-mention team selections.

Smith finished the season with a .344 batting average with 21 hits, including seven doubles and two triples, one home run, 15 RBIs, 19 runs scored, four walks and struck out just five times in 69 plate appearances. Defensively, she fielded at an .844 clip and turned three double plays.

Reyes, meanwhile, tallied 13 hits – all singles – with 10 RBIs, two walks and fielded at an .897 clip, committing just three errors in 29 total chances, and turned three double plays.

Farmersville was also recognized for its work in the classroom.

Eleven players cracked the all-district academic team – Casados, Holland, Reyes, Smith, Wheaton, Emaleigh Sweeden, Abby Simpson, Haley Watkins, Presley McIver, Alicia West and Savannah Rivera.
