Students from the district were back on campus two weeks ago for the annual Farmersville youth softball camp.
Campers worked on a variety of skills, including throwing and catching, base running, hitting, sliding and diving, and communication between players.
“The most important things our coaching staff wanted the girls to get out of camp this year was being good teammates and constantly talking and encouraging each other,” said Reese Fetty, an assistant coach at Farmersville High School. Fetty graduated from Farmersville in 2021, and she went on to play collegiately for the East Texas A&M University women’s volleyball team.
Fetty coached the youth softball camp along with Farmersville alumnae Jenson McTee, Jamie Varga and Carleigh Deeds.
“They brought the energy every day, and all the girls loved working with them,” Fetty said.
On the final day of the camp, the coaching staff brought out the water slide for the campers to use.
“This is the highlight of camp every year,” Fetty said.
