City Council’s newest member, Kristi Mondy, shown with City Secretary Tabatha Monk, took the oath of office during the Monday, June 16 meeting.
Finance Director John Lawrence gave Farmersville City Council a preliminary look at the 2025-26 fiscal year budget during the June 16 meeting.
Lawrence said the overview reflected highlights from a budget workshop held a few days prior. He thanked councilmembers and city staff for their participation and noted he is still gathering data to answer questions regarding debt service and ad valorem taxes.
“I am already working on solutions to address an expected deficit budget,” Lawrence said.
Mayor Craig Overstreet acknowledged that the budget process remains speculative until the county provides updated property tax values.
