Colton Trentine tours a Farmersville fire truck at Rike Memorial Library during their annual Public Safety Day Wednesday, July 9.
Farmersville’s Police and Fire Departments paid a visit to Rike Memorial Library for their annual Public Safety Day Wednesday, July 9. Families gathered in the library to hear police and firefighters read stories before touring the public safety vehicles parked outside.
Members of the police and fire departments passed out sticker badges as both children and adults climbed into the front and back seats of two police cars and viewed some of the equipment kept on a fire truck.
Young patron Colton Trentine said he preferred the fire truck and found “a whole bunch of helmets” during his tour of the vehicle.
Additionally, attendees enjoyed free pizza and received rubber ducks dressed in the uniforms of everyday heroes.
The event gave the community a chance to meet local public safety workers and learn more about their responsibilities.
The last Summer Reading Club event at the library will be Cathy’s Critters Petting Zoo at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23.
