Finance Director John Lawrence updated council on the latest city budget revisions at the Tuesday, Sept. 2 Farmersville City Council meeting.
Lawrence described the challenges of balancing a budget for a growing municipality and reviewed considerations for cutting the proposed budget.
In earlier work sessions, a proposed tax rate of 83 cents per $100 appraised home value had been discussed to meet city needs. However, Lawrence presented another scenario in which cuts would be made to the general fund in order to propose a 71.25-cent total tax rate per $100 valuation.
