Facing a looming deadline to adopt the 2025-26 city budget and corresponding tax rate, Farmersville City Council approved an ordinance proposing the new rate during its Monday, Sept. 15 regular meeting.
After hearing concerns from residents about higher taxes, overspending on construction projects and confusion over the county’s tax worksheet, councilmembers proposed the “no-new-revenue” tax rate.
The rate of $0.827244 per $100 of assessed value was approved as the maximum amount for consideration at a Sept. 25 special-called meeting. Councilmembers retain the flexibility to adopt a lower rate.
