Farmersville Lights will be officially lit Tuesday, Dec. 2, along Farmersville Parkway.

Farmersville is kicking off the holiday season with a cheerful slate of events that will bring lights, shopping, tradition and small-town sparkle to the city over the next two weeks.

The celebration begins Tuesday, Dec. 2, with the official opening of Farmersville Lights. A special ceremony is set for 6 p.m. at CBTx Bank, after which the city’s holiday lights will illuminate downtown nightly from dusk until midnight.

Later in the week, on Friday, Dec. 5, downtown merchants will welcome shoppers for Cocktails and Candy Canes, an after-hours event. Beginning at 6 p.m., participating merchants will stay open late and offer festive drinks and seasonal specials. Organizers call it “the perfect night to shop, sip, and kick off the holidays with friends.”

Festivities on Saturday, Dec. 6, will kick off bright and early with Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the Farmerettes from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the FHS cafeteria. For $10, families can enjoy a hot breakfast, photos with Santa and a variety of holiday activities — a cheerful start to a full day of events around town.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Farmersville Historical Society will host A Victorian Christmas at the Bain-Honaker House, where guests can tour the decorated 19th-century home and browse the Holiday Store filled with locally made gifts. The historic home will also offer Holiday Tea Parties at 3 and 4 p.m., and spaces are still available. Register now at farmersvillehistoricalsociety.com. All proceeds and donations go toward The Farmersville Historical Society and the restoration of the Historic Bain-Honaker House Museum.

Saturday is also the monthly Farmersville Holiday Market, held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Onion Shed, 154 S. Main St. Shoppers can browse seasonal goods and handmade items — and visit Santa, who will be onsite to greet families throughout the day.

The following weekend brings more holiday fun. On Saturday, Dec. 13, runners will lace up for the annual Rudolph Run 5K, which begins at 8 a.m. at the Onion Shed. Register at farmersvillechamber.com.

Nearby, the Farmersville Heritage Museum will host Holiday LEGOS and trains from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The exhibit features intricate LEGO village displays — including scenes modeled after downtown Farmersville businesses — created by local master builders.

Also on Dec. 13, the Bain-Honaker House will once again open for tours and Holiday Store shopping from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving residents an additional opportunity to enjoy the historic home dressed for the season.

The day concludes with one of Farmersville’s most cherished traditions — the Farmersville Christmas Parade, stepping off at 6 p.m. downtown. This year’s theme, “Our Favorite Christmas Movies,” encourages participants to decorate floats and costumes inspired by holiday classics.
