City manager resigns; council approves separation

by | Jan 8, 2026 | Latest

Change came quickly in 2026 for Farmersville’s city leadership.

Council unanimously approved the resignation of City Manager Ben White and the terms of a separation agreement during the regular city council meeting Monday, Jan. 5.

Midway through the meeting, council convened in executive session to “deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee, or to hear a complaint or charge against an officer or employee: City Manager.”

Legal counsel for the city joined council in closed session. White, who served as city manager for almost 15 years, was not present at the meeting.

Following unanimous approval of the resignation, council also unanimously authorized Mayor Craig Overstreet and Mayor pro tem Mike Henry to research possible interim city manager candidates and the employment of a search firm to find a permanent replacement.
