The Farmersville golf team will have plenty of representation at the Region II-4A Tournament.
Paced by a fourth-place individual finish from freshman Callie Christenson, the Lady Farmers earned second place at last week’s District 13-4A Tournament and clinched an automatic team berth in regionals.
Farmersville carded a team score of 940. Caddo Mills, with an 807, dominated the field to win the team title.
Christenson tied for fourth place with a two-day score of 214. Senior Olivia Banks placed sixth with a 217. Senior Zoey Mann was 11th with a 243 and senior Delaney Godfrey finished tied for 13th with a 256.
Caddo Mills had the top three individual scorers. Ava Key earned first place with a score of 156.
Farmersville also had a regional qualifier on the boys’ side. Sophomore Sebastian Redwine took fourth overall with a 170. He shot 89 on the first day but took eight strokes off that total on the second day and then carded an 81 over the final 18 holes.
Junior Noah Weidman also placed in the top 10, tying for seventh with a 176. Senior Walker Liebert captured 18th with a 193. Senior Nate Clark took 22nd with a 202. Senior Addison Adams placed 25th with a two-day total of 207. Senior Hayden Grabowski shot 240, good for 30th place.
Farmersville placed fourth in the team standings with a 728. Sunnyvale won the team title with a 694. Caddo Mills, which shot 707, finished in second place to earn the other automatic team spot in the regional tournament.
Sunnyvale senior Wyatt Moore, who carded a 154, won the individual title. Moore’s total was six strokes better than the event’s runner-up.
The first day of the two-day tournament was held March 31 at Van Zandt Country Club, and the second day was held April 1 at Waterview Golf Club.
