Farmersville alums and siblings PJ Capetillo (Class of 2025) and Diego Capetillo (Class of 2024) competed at the Collegiate Nationals powerlifting meet in New Orleans, Louisiana, held April 9-12.
Diego, who finished fifth at the 2025 CNATS, claimed the title of 2026 Collegiate National Champion.
Competing in the 220-pound men’s equipped weight class, Diego recorded a 777-pound squat, a new USAPL Southwest junior record. He followed that with a 479-pound bench press, a new USAPL Southwest open record.
With a 617-pound deadlift, he totaled 1,874 pounds and earned All-American honors.
PJ, a freshman at Louisiana Tech University, competed in the 143-pound women’s equipped weight class and finished fifth. Her final lifts included a 375-pound squat, a 198-pound bench press and a 380-pound deadlift. Her final deadlift secured her spot in the top five, giving her a total of 953 pounds.
