Body cameras enhance training

The North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Police Academy is expanding its use of technology to better prepare future law enforcement officers by incorporating Motorola Solutions V700 body cameras into recruit training.

The academy began using the body cameras in January as part of scenario-based training exercises. Video recorded during simulated public interactions and emergency response situations allows recruits to review their own performance, helping improve communication, decision-making and de-escalation skills.

The technology also familiarizes recruits with equipment they are likely to use once they enter the field while reinforcing professionalism and accountability.
