For decades, James and Mary Hemby helped shape generations of Farmersville students — in classrooms, principal’s offices, at church and throughout the community.

Now their names will greet generations still to come.

Farmersville ISD formally dedicated James and Mary Hemby Elementary School Saturday, Aug. 9, honoring two longtime educators whose combined careers spanned 76 years in education, including 45 years of service to Farmersville ISD.

The Hembys joined FISD in 1979. James served 16 years as Farmersville High School principal after working in other districts. Mary spent 29 years with FISD as a classroom teacher, instructional support teacher and principal of Tatum Elementary.
