Farmersville High School’s marching band got an early start on a busy season, beginning rehearsals before the first day of school.
Students selected for the new leadership team, called Elevate, met July 21 for training. The team is a small group formed to serve as mentors, teach fundamentals and encourage younger band members. Additional leaders include three drum majors: Kylee Blake, Valeria Sereno and Jeslyn Buster.
“Talent is important, but our culture has always been built around students working hard, encouraging one another and holding each other accountable,” Band Director Scott Cross said. “That’s where our student leaders make such a tremendous impact.”
