P&Z takes wait-and-see approach on data centers

Farmersville Planning & Zoning commissioners are taking a wait-and-see approach to data center development as the city considers how, or whether, to address the growing industry through its zoning regulations.

During its Monday, Aug. 24, meeting, the commission discussed several options for data center zoning, including creating a specific zoning classification for data centers, requiring proposed facilities to go through a planned development process, or taking no immediate action.

The commission ultimately reached a consensus to take no action at this time while remaining prepared to address a proposal if one is submitted.
